Modern artworks in the midst of an alpine oasis of relaxation
A place that enriches and inspires with contemporary art: At the Naturhotel Forsthofgut located at the foot of the Leoganger Steinberge, the topics of art and culture are becoming increasingly important. The Workation Room was created not only as a place of retreat for productive work, reading and conversations, but also as a stage for artists, exhibitions and talks. We currently have the pleasure of exhibiting the works of Erwin Wurm and Christian Vukomanovic. So a relaxing stay at Forsthofgut benefits not only the body but also the discerning mind.
Art connects
Recently, works by various artists have been exhibited - but not only in the Workation Room, the surrounding nature also invites an exploration of contemporary art with the installation of outdoor sculptures. In the future, we would also like to use the stage for cultural events, such as an artist talk.
Erwin Wurm "Big Suit" (2010/16)
Right next to the entrance of the Forsthofgut, guests are greeted by the sculpture "Big Suit" (2010/2016), by the well-known Austrian artist Erwin Wurm (born 1954). The representation of the " headless " man in a suit is typical of Wurm's ongoing exploration of the concept of sculpture and his view of society. By looking at the society and the human being with humour to the point of obvious absurdity, the artist also allows the viewer to perceive the world from a different perspective.
Erwin Wurm "Respect" (2020)
The sculpture "Respect" (2020) is part of Wurm's most recent series of works and shows an oversized marble sausage with a shape that is almost reminiscent of antique statues. In addition to the two sculptures, two photographs on loan from the Thaddaeus Ropac Gallery in Salzburg are also on display in the Workation Room.
Workation Room
A place to share, work creatively, focus, or let your mind wander: Reserved for adults, the Workation Room offers space to retreat and read or work in peace. The only distraction is the view of the mountains: you can't get enough of this view!
Fotografien „Claudia Schiffer“ (2009)
Erwin Wurm „One-Minute Sculptures“ (2009)
Art for good
At the Forsthofgut we want to give space to art and pass on the joy of culture. We also want to give something back to the region. During the opening of the riding stable on 22.10.2022 a work of art was made directly on site by artist Christian Vukomanovic and auctioned in favor of the Forsthofgut Foundation.
The artwork "Noia Infinita" is divided into 3 parts and the left part was auctioned for 4.500 €. The whole amount will go to the Forsthofgut Foundation and the Schmuck family will use it again for projects in the region.
The other two parts remain at the Forsthofgut and can be seen directly in the Forsthofgut Riding Stables from now on.
Our Workation Room is more than just a workplace. It is a place that inspires thoughts and where our guests can have good conversations - all this in an artistic, inspiring ambience.
