Riding stables: opening on Sept 30^th

The Forsthofgut is always on the lookout for new specialties. This time we have been inspired by the search for "happiness on earth" - which, according to the German saying, can be found on the back of horses. That is why a riding stable with an indoor riding arena will also be part of the Forsthofgut from September, 30^th 2022.

Riding happiness at the Forsthofgut

Grown out of a former forestry business, we feel a very special responsibility for the environment in our nature hotel. We want to strengthen this even more with the riding stable: For us, riding is a unique connection between man and nature. We want to awaken the joy of riding and offer a very special experience. For the guests, completely new offers and lasting memories open up: From guided tours of the stables to creative workshops, from campfire evenings to romantic carriage rides, extraordinary experiences await families and nature lovers.

What would be a riding stable without their horses? Not only Haflinger beauties live with us, but a colourful variety of beautiful horses. Here they introduce themselves from week to week. Who is the boss? Who practices the best tricks? And which horse is the oldest? We'll tell you.

Saphir - Haflinger | 6 years

Hello, my name is Saphir and I am a chestnut Haflinger with a height of 150 cm. I'm also called the "little rascal" because I'm always full of mischief. What are my unique skills? I take good care of my little "passengers" and I'm really excited to meet them all soon.

Phoebe - Haflinger | 18 years

My name is Phoebe and I am an 18 year old Haflinger mare in light red chestnut colours. With my 155cm I hold the record in the Forsthofgut stables. In addition, my calm and detached nature makes me stand out. What am I particularly good at? I am still quite fit for my age and am already looking forward to the many riding lessons with the Forsthofgut guests.

Camilla - Riding pony | 4 years

Hello, I am Camilla and with a height of 105 cm the biggest riding pony in the Forsthofgut riding stables. The others call me the "pretty pearl". Well, I am quite proud of my dark mane. What am I particularly good at? Dancing (running) is my passion. Here I like to show how beautiful I can shine as a pearl.

Daisy - Riding pony | 4 years

I am Camilla's sister and currently still nameless. I am characterised by my dark appearance with white patches of colour and my 100cm height makes me a little twin. Small and fine - a real little horse to cuddle. What am I particularly good at? I love nature so much that I love to roll over in the ground to everyone's delight.

Ibolya - Riding pony | 10 years

Let me introduce myself, I am the Pippi Longstocking horse, but I am still looking for a name. At best, it should be as colourful as me. As a 130 cm tall riding pony, I am the future party companion for our little guests. As a lady horse, I am particularly proud of my distinctive coat colour and markings. My weakness, however, is treats. I would even do a trick or two for them.

Riding stable

From September, 30th 2022, a riding stable with an indoor riding arena will be part of the Forsthofgut. The indoor riding arena at the riding stud will be 20x40 meters. In addition to the boxes used by the hotel's own horses, further boxes will be available for guests and their horses. In addition, the Forsthofgut will also offer horseback riding, which will be completed by special riding experiences.

The new riding stable is also an appreciation of its own history: when the house was still an agricultural enterprise, there were horses on the farm - and this circle is now closing again.

COMING SOON: Nature Experiences

A relaxing holiday at the Forsthofgut can also be experienced with your own horse: in addition to the boxes used by the hotel's own horses, two further boxes are available for guests and their horses with advance reservation. This allows riders and horse owners to discover the mountain region together with their faithful companion and further strengthen their bond with the animal through special experiences in nature. For those who don't necessarily want to ride but still want to enjoy unique animal moments, we recommend our new nature experiences.

Guest horse boxes

For passionate riders, a holiday with your own horse at the Forsthofgut is possible: a unique opportunity to strengthen your relationship with your horse! Your beloved friend is guaranteed to feel at home in our spacious guest horse boxes.

The boxes are provided with domestic bedding and are mucked out daily. Your horse gets sustainably grown hay for daily refreshment. To ensure that your horse can enjoy its holiday to the full, there is an infrared solraium to provide soothing warmth, a washing area with hot water and a comfortable guest horse box with direct paddock access. An extensive indoor riding arena and the outdoor riding arena offer plenty of space for spending time together with your horse. The highlight for your animal are the outdoor riding possibilities that you will find abundance around the Forsthofgut. In addition, the heated, lockable tack room is at your disposal.

The nature around the Forsthofgut offers the most beautiful scenery for long rides and outdoor exercise: The region can be wonderfully explored on horseback. You can start directly from the hotel.

MOMENTS OF HAPPINESS FOR BIG & SMALL

In addition to a riding offer with special experiences, there will also be a new extended children's & youth offer. In the spacious creative play area on the upper floor of the riding stable, there is plenty of room for special moments of happiness for big and small guests.

HOLIDAY WITH YOUR OWN HORSE

In addition to the boxes for the hotel's horses, we offer further boxes for our guests' horses. They make it possible for riders and horse owners to discover the mountain region with their faithful friends and strengthen their bond with the animal through extraordinary nature experiences. For your personal guest box, please make a reservation in advance at the reception under reiten@forsthofgut.at.

Good to know

From what age is riding allowed?

For our youngest children, riding is allowed from the age of 2 years accompanied by their parents. For the older rascals, riding lessons are possible from the age of 6 (without parents).

What do I need to bring along?

Perfect equipment is also part of a perfect riding experience. Therefore, we ask all riding enthusiasts to come with sturdy shoes and long trousers. We recommend that you bring your own equipment (if available). For personal protection, wearing a helmet while riding is compulsory. Helmet and waistcoat can be rented on-site.

Which animals are moving into the enclosure?

In addition to our horses, we are also home to numerous four-legged friends at the Reithof. Alpacas, dwarf sheep, rabbits, a donkey and much more await young and old to cuddle all year round.

Do riding courses have to be booked in advance?

In order to fulfil your riding happiness, we recommend that you book your desired units in advance.

miniGUT & forest playground

The miniGUT is modeled on a real Pinzgau farm and here the children are even allowed to help with feeding and caring for the animals. From the woolly sheep and sweet rabbits to the shaggy ponies, cheeky mini pigs, and curious goats, our small animals are waiting to be lovingly stroked. This summer, our forest playground in the miniGUT will also shine in new splendor. Three different swings, a new seesaw, climbing walls, and many other wooden play facilities make the miniGUT a favorite place for little explorers, where they can play and romp to their heart's content.

When you ride a horse, you borrow a little piece of freedom.

Pippi Langstrumpf birthday

"Make the world as you like it."

This is the motto of the Forsthofgut's birthday party for the little ones. Colorful and full of joie de vivre, ponies are painted with finger paints, horses are groomed and plaits are braided. A pony walk together rounds off the perfect experience.
